Homeschool

We are gonna try out this homeschool thing. It seems like it's just meant to be. I'm excited. I just wanna do it. That's why we're doing it. It's pretty awesome that I get to just do what I want. I'm thankful for the opportunity.

James

Josiah

Caleb

Momma

All at home together next year.....

It's going to be a big change. James has been at Ponderosa for FOUR years now. We are giving some things up... some really good things...  but we're also gaining a lot... It's just different...

I've been babysitting a LOT this past year. More than I ever intended to... And I have LOVED it...

But now I'm missing my OWN kids, and I'm ready to embark on this adventure with them...

I'll let you know how it's going!!

disney update

i have disney on the brain, and i'd like to share...

i've been praying and praying and praying about our make a wish trip..

wanting it to be as special as can BE for our sweet JAMES!

wanting it to be HIS choice.... not influincing him toward what I want.

and after an e-mail from the make a wish coordinator, letting us know that it is not too late to change our minds away from the disney thing, and to choose something else like sea world in san diego or swimming with the dolphins in hawaii......

i started to second guess our decision....

wondering...

was this really his wish??

or was it my influence??

and after being asked two separate times, a few days apart....

in an unbiased way... whether James would like to change our trip to a different one, full of relaxation, the beach, beauty, and swimming with dolphins... or keep it disney world, where he can swim in a pool, see shows and parades and fireworks, and meet characters, like mickey mouse and barney...

he chose disney world both times..

which made THIS momma much more confident in our decision to do DISNEY world... and happy that it is his TRUE choice..

and made me SO excited for our trip in just THREE short months!!!!

 YAY!!

Gift in the Mundane (Parenting in the Now)

Great post about SAVORING your sweet time with your little ones RIGHT NOW
I told Aunt Lynds this story and she says I must blog about it, so here we go...

Josiah got spider man pjs and a toolbox kit from Aunt Lynds and Uncle Ryan for his birthday. He loves the spider man pjs so much that I can barely get them off of him long enough to run them through the washer and dryer. He loved the tools so much that he slept with them the first night, and wouldn't even move them so Mama could lay down with him!

By the way, I'm now officially called "Momma" around here because my kids tried to start calling me "Mom" instead of "Mommy," and I was like, uhhh, NO. So Daddy asked if it's ok for them to call me "Mama," and I said, "Yes, I'll take it." So now when they try to say "Mom," I say "You mean MomMY?" and Josiah says, "Ok, Mama - Will you take it?" and I say, "Yeah, I'll take that." hahaahha! Cuties!!

But I digress.....

Back to the pjs and tools...

So, that first night was the only night he had a chance to sleep with his beloved tool set, because the next morning he used the hammer to crack the screen on his portable DVD player, and that was the end of Joey + Tools around here! Not to mention, the end of the DVD player! SIGH. What to DO with that boy!!!!?????

Actually, overall he has been calming down a LOT, and being a much sweeter, more grown-up little love. And for that, I am THANKFUL!

James is really excited about the Carnival party that we're having on Saturday for the kids' birthdays. He's genuinely excited, and I LOVE that.. because in times past, he has not been interested in parties, and doesn't like all the people.. but I really do think he's going to like this one.

I can't believe that next week is James' last week of Kindergarten, and then he will be a first grader. When did baby James get to be such a grown up, handsome, smart, smart, smart! BIG BOY!? Love him!

Disney WORLD!!!!!

I finally heard back from the Make-A-Wish foundation, and it looks like we're going to Disney World in Florida this Fall!!! Most likely sometime in mid-September!! By "we," I mean our whole family - Seth and I and all three boys!!!

It's a seven day, six night trip!! We will be staying at the Give Kids the World Village, and we will have free tickets to all of the Disney World parks (The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Blizard Beach, the Animal Kingdom park, Hollywood Studios, and the Typhoon Lagoon), PLUS Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Sea World, and Legoland!!! We also get a free rental car for the entire trip AND spending money for food and stuff.

James can't wait to see Mickey, Barney, Winnie the Pooh, and go to the beach, he says.

Yipieeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Early Easter Celebrations, Friends, and Crafts

We tried several times to release the butterflies, but I think it was just a bit too cold for them. They wanted to stay in our nice warm house a little longer!! But after a week, we knew it was time... so we brought them over to the Abken's house to release them with all of the kids from our bible study group. We had a little early Easter celebration with them that day. It was really really nice.

We've been spending this holy week doing all kinds of activities and reading from - you guessed it - the Jesus Storybook Bible! We had the Candler and Velikonia kids and their mommies over to decorate eggs. It was so fun! Then the boys and I dyed eggs again the next day. Josiah loves it and keeps asking me to do it again! I made a pretty floral centerpiece with some of the eggs that we dyed. James and I also made "palm branches" out of green construction paper hand print cutouts. I didn't get a picture of them... but one of the other activities was to make these "stained glass" crosses with waxed paper and crayon shavings. They turned out beautiful!
