A Big Day for the Condit Family

Today was a big day. I had an ultrasound this morning to find out the sex of the baby, and Seth left work to come be with us for that. I let James come, too, so that he could see his baby brother or sister on the screen, "like a movie." It was supposed to be joyous, but of course, James threw up his entire breakfast on the carpet in the waiting room of the doctor's office. My mom and Seth cleaned it up, but right as they were finishing, I was called into the room for my ultrasound...

Seth was still finishing up cleaning up the barf when the doctor started the ultrasound. I could tell right away that it was a BOY! The doctor tried to wait to tell me until Seth was in the room, but I just knew. It looked exactly like the pictures of James at 17 weeks... just then, Seth made it into the room, and the doctor smiled and nodded to me... I said, "it's a boy!" and Seth, my mom, and I were all so happy. We told James, "you have a baby brother!"

When we got to the car, I called Aunt Lyndsey on the phone and told James to scream, "it's a boy!" really loudly to tell Aunt Lynds.. he usually gets really shy and talks really quitely on the phone, unless you tell him to yell.. but he did it! "It's a boy!" he screamed...

Later in the afternoon today, Dr. Park's office called my cell phone while I was out (great grams had come to spend some time with James, so i was out getting stuff for dinner and things...) ... they got the results of my blood work - the AFP test - and everything is negative, which is good.. no spina bifida! yay!

So, other than the puke, it has been a great day for us. A day of celebration! :)

The barf will forever be a thorn in my flesh.... sigh....

So we've been talking about boy names that we like.... so far we like Luke and Josiah. What do you think??

I cried when I read about the test results...it's amazing that there are people in this world that take having a healthy baby for granted, ya know. I'm so happy for you!
