It has been 2 weeks and 2 days since surgery, and James acts like he never even had surgery! He hasn't thrown up too much in the past couple of weeks. He had several bad vomiting episodes right after surgery, but I think it mostly had to do with his positioning (on the bed) and the congestion that always comes with post-surgery nuisances. This morning he threw up in the car just before we left for church, but that was the first bad one in several days. It's probably too early to tell if the surgery has helped with the vomiting, but so far it has been manageable.
His gross and fine motor skills seem about the same to me as they were pre-surgery. He still has the indwelling thumbs when trying to grab objects, and still sits with hand support. I haven't noticed any significant change... but again, it might just be too early to tell..
Like i mentioned before, it is a 6 week total recovery (for total healing of his back).. so i can re-evaluate after that...
He's starting back at therapy this week.
5 more weeks until my due date :) James is talking better and better everyday, and he's saying really cute things... i think he understands more about what it means that he is having a brother, and how the baby is actually going to be born and he will live with us and share his room and all of that... it is really fun to watch him think it through... we all can't wait until Josiah's birth and how he will bring so much joy to our family :)
until next time....
