prayers and smiles

Several weeks ago I asked Seth to help me think about how to teach James to pray. We usually pray together as a family at dinner, and then I pray with James before bed. He would listen to me, and I would ask him if HE wanted to talk to God, and he would say, "yes," but then when I would stop to see what he would say, he wouldn't say anything... So I asked Seth.

Seth said that I should pray and have James repeat my words, and I should keep it really simple, and that eventually he will learn to think of his own things to say to God... but for now he could just repeat Mommy...

I thought that was a good idea, so that's what we've been doing....

But tonight I started praying, and he repeated me, and then I paused for a minute to see what he would do... I wasn't sure if he would say anything, and then after a brief pause, he said, "Thank you for chicken nuggets" HAHAHAHAHA! sooooooo cute! So I held in my giggles as best I could, and prayed another simple prayer, which he repeated, and then paused again to see what he would say... He said, "Thank you for pizza." OH MY GOSH! That's what he had for lunch (ch. nuggets) and dinner (pizza) today, so i guess he was remembering his meals, and that's what he was thankful for! I LOVE it!

Speaking of food, Josiah's been eating constantly lately, and growing so fast! Today he had a big burp that made him feel a lot better, and he looked at Carrisa a minute or so after the big burp and gave her one big, WIDE AWAKE, REAL smile!!
