We had a great weekend. Seth had Friday off, and actually got to enjoy it for once (not at the hospital or anything this time, thank God!).. He spent the day playing with the kids, loving his wife, and building a set - yep, I said a set. Haha!! We hosted Ryan's birthday party here, and it was a "Survivor" themed party, so of course we had to go all out on our entryway. Seth made our porch look like a hut, with tiki-torches, and sand, and all! Ryan did an AMAZING job creating "challenges" for the game, and he was just a great host overall. We are SO so so blessed to have such fun, creative, and loyal friends!
On Saturday, Seth drove to Ramsey Bar to spend a few hours and have lunch with Adam and Craig, and then we took all the kids to the Velikonia's for Brady's surprise party. It was also a great time, and we were all so glad that he was truly surprised. It is somewhat of a mystery to me how people become friends that you suddenly realize you deeply care about... and that is what I have been realizing has happened with the Velikonias and the Candlers. They are no longer "new friends" but "true friends" now. Again, we are SO blessed!
Today was a restful Sunday. Josiah slept in until 7am (yes, that is sleeping in....sigh...) and then our entire family piled into mommy and daddy's bed and just laughed and played together for a while... we made it to church without any major crisis (miracle!), and Tom gave a great sermon about how we claim to want Jesus in our lives, but when He shows up in the middle of our stuff, we act like He's just in our way. About how we question Him and focus on all kinds of things that aren't what truly matter, as if we have all the time in the world... SO true...
This afternoon, Seth and I watched a movie while James and Josiah played on the back patio - James in his stander --- playing in the water, laughing, pretending... it was very cute, and music to this momma's ears.
Also, I may or may not have had six to ten oreos and about five or so chocolate covered almond clusters. SIGH.
