No school for James today, but Josiah still had preschool.. so we decided not to schedule the nurse, but instead, we had a date!
Set everything out last night, or else it was NOT going to happen....
Seth set the coffee pot to start brewing for me at 6:30am. Perfect timing...
6:30am - Outta bed. Shower while all babies are still asleep.. Ahh, bliss! Gulped down a cup of coffee. Re-heated eggs that I made last night for Joey's breakfast today. Slopped on some avocado, of course.
7am - Kids wake up, Caleb into the high chair for a bottle. Put Josiah's lunch and things in the van. Joey eats breakfast; Mommy realizes that James' feeding pump malfunctioned and he didn't get most of his night feeding. SIGH. Flush the g-tube. Take out cath. Get him dressed. AFOs and shoes on. Teeth brushed. Diapers of all kids changed and new clothes and shoes put on. Out the door!
7:50am - Drop off Josiah at preschool.
8:20am - Arrive in Chico. Park outside Starbucks downtown, where Jess is "enjoying" her second-to-last day as a Starbucks barista! Feed Caleb some yogurt. Wheelchair and diaper bag out of the van. Nancy and boys are there to help! Yay!
8:30am - Visit Nancy, Stephanie, and Jess at Starbucks while Andrew and Jarred take turns holding Caleb and loving it! (such sweeties!!), and James enjoys Netflix on his iPad. There's something about a nice morning at the coffee shop - especially in an old downtown building - that makes for a great start to the day!
9:45am - Off to Barnes and Noble to meet Aunt Lynds and Emilee for some Easter-book-reading-madness! But first, cath and bolus feeding in the van... And a phone call to daddy to see if he's working in Chico, and whether we can visit him at work after Barnes and Noble. No luck. He's in Oroville, but James gets to talk to "Horf-Horf" (Daddy's funny voice), and to grandpa, too.... Then, inside Barnes and Noble for a "treasure hunt" to find an Easter book that is actually about the true meaning of Easter (very difficult to find!)
10am - Reading, Reading, Reading.... Caleb crawling all around, getting into cute-baby-mischief. Emilee smiling our melting hearts away! ... A bit of a bad attitude from James (maybe it was the missed night feeding?) ... now a tired 10-month-old, and a hungry 4-month-old, and a grumpy 5-year-old, and it's time to say good bye! (found the treasure-Easter-book-about-Jesus, bought it) .
11:30am - Quick stop at Raley's for soy chocolate yogurt and Cod fish for tonight's dinner.
12:30pm - Pick up Joey at preschool, and home. Read the Easter book to Joey before we all laid down for a nice long rest all afternoon!
Tonight is James' date night with grandma and grandpa, and I'm sure the rest of us will be pushing the couches together for another winter movie night! Ahh, yes :)
