we've had a good weekend so far. friday (yesterday) James and i went to Oroville with Ashley and Lucy to meet her friend Robin and Robin's baby boy, Kaycin. we stopped at payless first and both bought some new shoes (always adds some merriment). we got a chance to try out my double stroller with James nad Lucy, and that thing is ENORMOUS!! haha.
that night seth had "boy's night" at home, and he and adam played poker with my dad and ryan. james stayed home with daddy and amused himself by participating in the poker fun by covering the entire dining room floor with poker chips and fake money.. :) meanwhile, ashley and i went to chico to go to glazed creations with lynds and her "work friends." ashley made adam a little gift, lyndsey made something for her mother-in-law, and i painted little sushi dishes to match my dishware at home (well, i TRIED... and with Ashley's help, i think they might actually turn out ok).
this morning, seth went to breakfast with adam, and then came home and hung the new shelves that i bought at IKEA in the boys' room. they look great, and i can't wait to start putting stuff on them! we had a relaxing morning.. then we went to Justin's wedding. James bonked his chin on the floor of the church gym where the reception was, and it split open and started bleeding like crazy.. 2 bandaids later and a nap in the car with mommy fixed him right up, but i think he might get a little scar from this one! AS IF he needs any more scars!!! boys....
when we got home from the wedding, seth and i had a nice discussion about all kinds of things - what it means to have a fulfilled life with true purpose, God's purposes in allowing and even maybe planning suffering for us, balancing family and ministry and what that all looks like, and how we can teach our kids about ministry throughout the whole process of doing it... i love when we get to just contemplate things together. it is fairly rare... we are both looking forward to less busyness in this coming week. last week we had something on the calendar EVERY NIGHT, and a pretty full weekend, too! so this week, we're just going to try to say no to things and stay home a lot, just chillin as a family.
