walking and preschool

today i had 2 important discussions about james. the first was with deanna, the woman who makes and revises james' walking braces. she encouraged me to get james upright and walking waaaay more often than we do. it is so daunting to walk with him everyday, but i am realizing more and more that it is necessary if he is ever going to walk independently. i am trying to formulate a plan now for getting him walking every day. he needs to be in his stander at home way more hours than he currently is. he needs to be using his walker and braces to practice recipricol gait (shifting from left to right to left...) everyday. i am going to need help with this. it is not something i can do by myself. if you know of anyone who would like to volunteer once a week or something like that to come over here and practice walking with James, i will take it!

the other discussion was with the principal of the school in chico where james gets physical and occupational therapy. as you probably know, we have requested an interdistrict transfer so that he can go to school in chico and get physical therapy at the same campus where he goes to school. it's a long story and we have several reasons why this is the best option for him - i won't go into all of it right now - but anyway, the principal was honest with me and pretty much told me that he would be very surprised if james' interdistrict transfer request was approved, because they are almost NEVER approved! :( please PRAY for us this week when you think of us, and ask the Lord for a miracle when it comes to this transfer request, because if he doesn't get accepted in Chico, it is going to be a very long and exausting battle to try and get him what he needs here in Paradise. i just don't have anymore dang energy for that!!

i love Paradise - i have often called it the best place on earth - but having a child with so many needs, it does tempt me to move to the city.
