life lately...

Josiah pulled himself to a standing position all by himself a few minutes ago, using this little green table that my dad made for James a while back. James said, "Look Mommy! Josiah's standing up all by himself!" His hair is wild right now because it's always frizzy and crazy for several hours after a bath.

it's a good thing it wasn't a school day today for my James, because for some reason I couldn't even get it together for a 10am appointment in Paradise! But with the help of my mom rescuing us at the last minute, we made it, and James picked out new frames for his new glasses. We will be getting them in about 2 weeks. FINALLY! yes!

tonight is date night. i am glad. it is always much needed, and today is no exception...

my birthday was really nice this year. simple and special. seth brought me not one, but TWO bouquets of flowers. he said he knows i like to separate them into a million little bouquets so that i have one for every room of the house, so he thought i would need more than one for that! haha. THEN, on friday - my actual birthday - we went to my mom and dad's for dinner. lyndsey and ryan came up. it was sooo nice having just a small group. my dad cooked a delicious chicken marsala, and Lance played with James downstairs while we enjoyed our meal barf-free. then my mom put the kids to bed while the rest of us stayed up way too late playing settlers.

on saturday, i spent the day cleaning the house and decorating for my wine and cheese girly party. i WISH i would have taken pictures of the table. it looked soooo pretty. i broke out some luminary candle holders with a pretty floral design that i got for 50 cents each on a major sale a long time ago. i put those on the table with a black table cloth, fresh flowers, my wine rack, and a handmade wood cutting board (for the cheeses) that i got as a gift 2 Christmases ago from the nurses at James' playcare. sometimes planning and decorating is more fun than the party itself!

but actually, the party itself was sooo nice. lyndsey, carrisa, carla, jessica, and my mom came. Seth took James over to my parents' house to spend the night. Josiah stayed here with me, and he got to have a little date with his "girlfriend," Norah :) All the girls (except my mom) brought clothes that they no longer wanted. we spent a good part of the evening trying on each others' clothes and exchanging. it was soooo fun, and we all went home with a new wardrobe!

we sat in my living room and talked. we reminisced. it was nice and freeing to simply be around old friends, who i know love me no matter what, and i know were rejoicing over my life on my birthday as only old friends can do.

then, of course, we played settlers!

haha!

Lyndsey stayed the night here - she got James' bed and his whole room to herself. She helped me get Josiah ready for church the next morning. It was a nice, relaxing morning. I even got a chance to flip through some new magazines before church, which is usually UN-HEARD OF on a Sunday morning... actually, ANY morning!! haha.
