Good morning.
It's a gorgeous day in Paradise.
Too bad Seth fertilized the lawns in the front yard and the kids can't play on them for another week. Good thing we have a patio! :) Seth bought the Oma swing last night, but we aren't setting it up yet. We need to find a way to keep the neighborhood cats out of our yard... any suggestions? We have a sealed yard now with the new fences and gates, but they just jump the fences, dang things! We've been talking about getting a dog for a couple of years now, but I am resisting. I just don't like animals. They are yucky. But it's a no brainer that one dog is much better than several cats... Someone gave Seth the idea to puree several hot peppers and put them in a spray bottle with water.. let them soak for a bit.. and then spray the tops of all of our fences with the mixture, so that the cats step on it and then lick their paws and get peppers in their mouths, or something like that... so then they learn that they don't like our house. I asked Seth if cats are smart enough to remember that that had happened to them.. he said yes. I was surprised.... I think we're gonna try it. You might think I'm mean.. but I'm telling you, those cats are kinda ruining my life right now... if it wasn't for them, I would be enjoying my Oma swing right now as I type this post.
James is doing well. He still needs pain meds on a regular basis, but he is playing with Josiah on the floor most of the day these days. I have to make him rest. Still not sure if he will be back at school Monday yet or not, but probably by Wednesday... He does miss it. This morning he said, "Today is Friday? We're going to school!" and I told him that he would be at school NEXT Friday.. he knows that Friday is music and sharing day at school..
Tonight I'm going to a ladies tea at Carla's church in Chico. Seth's watchin both boys. Pray for him! haha!! I'm actually more excited about it than I would normally get about a tea. Not sure why. I guess it's a combination of being cooped up for too long, and missing Carla's company. We have such different lives lately... it's hard to connect. So this will be nice.. plus, I really like a lady at her church named Janelle, who will be there.. she always blesses me.. so, yeah, I'm looking forward to it..
OH - Josiah is walking!!!!! He's been walking since Wednesday night. He's definitely going to be trotting around like a big boy at his first birthday party in a couple of weeks! CUTIE! James is very proud of him. Last night, James said, "Mommy, sit down in your seat next to me. Josiah is going to do a walking show for us." My "seat" next to him is imaginary.. just a spot on the floor.. but "shows" have been his thing lately. Everything is a show. And Josiah's new skill is no exception. Seth was outside mowing the lawns, and James said, "When Daddy comes in, he can sit in this seat [pointing to another imaginary but very specific spot] and watch Josiah's walking show with us." And when Seth came in, James really did make him do it. This is very serious business, you know ;) Then when Josiah walks for us, we clap and clap, like we just watched the best show of our lives.... and it really IS one of the best!
As I am typing these words, I hear James saying to Josiah right now, "Can you do a walking show for me, Josiah?" Funny boy...
