How are the Advent readings going?

I am finding that I definitely need to make time to read the two stories at different times throughout the day, or just throw one of them out altogether. Reading both stories in one sitting is way too much to expect of small children.

I am LOVING the lessons out of the Jesse Tree book, though, and I've been focusing on that one. James is old enough to be learning things and discussing and asking questions. Last night we read the creation story out of the Jesse Tree book together as a family, and then James and I read the creation story out of the Jesus Storybook Bible by ourselves.

Tonight we read about when sin entered the world through Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God. I asked the kids if they think we are sinners like Adam and Eve. James said "no" and then paused a second, and said, "Wait...Josiah is!"

Hahahahahhaahhahahhahahaha!!!

So we spent some time pointing out specific sin that tend to creep up for each of us.

The boys like the ornaments and fight over who gets to hold them, and who gets to put them on the tree. We are learning to take turns :)
