making the most of every opportunity...

Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise,
making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.
Ephesians 5:15-17

I've been working really hard lately to direct James' attention away from the TV and onto other activities, like coloring, painting, listening to music, playing with toys, reading books, and stuff like that. He has gotten so addicted to movies, like Blue's Clues, Elmo's World, Little Brown Bear, Clifford, and so on... they are good movies - educational, fun, and entertaining... but he's ADDICTED. I'm not kidding, it's all he ever wants to do. He wakes up in the morning, and the first words out of his mouth are, "Blue's Clues Baby Brother," or "Elmo - Reach for the Sky" or some other request for a movie! If I ask him if he wants to go bye-bye to the store with me, he says, "No, I want to watch a movie." It kills me!!!!!

So..... we've been trying to read together everyday, and I've had to be creative to try to find activities that he can do and that he can enjoy, to take his mind off of movies and have some quality time! Tonight we set up his "house" and tunnel in his room. Here he is, listening to music, looking at books, playing with toys, and dancing and stuff....
much better....

that's crazy that you would write this because Daniel and I were just talking last night about how since i've been pregnant Caden has really started watching more tv(pbs) or movies. I'm trying to give myself a little grace because I don't always feel good but I don't want it to become a habit that sticks. The tv was always on in my house growing up and that is one thing that I don't want for my kids. love ya!
